We are happy to take this opportunity to introduce to you our non-profit, diverse, parent-cooperative nursery school and Pre-kindergarten. Founded in the Marble Hill Houses, our school has offered a unique experience to many children enrolled in our half and all day programs.

The Marble Hill Nursery School was established with support from the Bank Street College, an outstanding and innovative institution training teachers and doing research in the field of child development since 1917. We have a full-time director and a staff of highly trained teachers, many of whom have been at the school for over 15 years. The school is licensed by the Board of Health and holds a permanent charter for Nursery and Kindergarten for the New York State Department of Education.
The Marble Hill Nursery School offers a program of developmentally appropriate activities for children which encourages them to mature and learn, providing a situation outside the home that is secure and nurturing. We recognize and respect the needs of the individual child, and yet offer children many opportunities for interaction with others their age.
The program is rich and varied, including creative arts, music, block play, puzzles, woodworking, dramatic play, cooking, and scientific experimentation. In addition to daily classroom musical activities, each class enjoys a weekly music and movement class with a skilled, professional musician.
For many years, we have participated in an intergenerational program in association with a local senior citizens’ center. We are also fortunate to have the services of an off-site social work consultant who spends two mornings a week at the school. Marble Hill is especially proud of its wonderful lending library and newly created parent center.
As a parent cooperative, Marble Hill encourages parents to participate occasionally in the classroom. Additionally, parents are required to participate in fundraising events and serve on one of the school committees, all of which contributes to the operation of the school. It is the high level of parent participation and support that makes Marble Hill Nursery School such a special place.
